Job Description:

As an Accountant specializing in the Agriculture Import/Export industry, you will play a crucial role in managing financial transactions, reporting, and compliance related to import and export activities within the agriculture sector. Your responsibilities will involve maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing financial insights to support business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Record-Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for import and export transactions, including invoices, bills of lading, shipping documents, and customs declarations.
  • Ensure proper categorization and documentation of expenses, revenues, and other financial activities related to agriculture import/export operations.

Accounts Payable and Receivable:

  • Process accounts payable transactions, including vendor invoices, payments, and reconciliations for goods and services related to agriculture imports and exports.
  • Manage accounts receivable processes, invoicing clients, tracking payments, and following up on outstanding balances.

Inventory Management:

  • Monitor and reconcile inventory levels for agricultural products involved in import/export operations, ensuring accurate valuation and reporting.
  • Coordinate with logistics and procurement teams to reconcile inventory discrepancies and ensure compliance with accounting standards.

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, to provide insights into the financial performance of agriculture import/export activities.
  • Generate ad-hoc financial reports as required by management or regulatory authorities.

Tax Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and reporting requirements related to agriculture import/export transactions, including VAT, customs duties, and other taxes.
  • Prepare and submit tax filings, declarations, and other regulatory reports accurately and on time.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts for agriculture import/export operations, providing insights into revenue projections, expense trends, and cash flow management.
  • Monitor actual financial performance against budgeted targets and analyze variances to identify areas for improvement.

Internal Controls and Compliance:

  • Implement and maintain internal controls and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, providing documentation and support as needed.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, sales, procurement, and logistics, to streamline financial processes, resolve issues, and support business objectives.
  • Provide financial expertise and guidance to support decision-making and optimize profitability in agriculture import/export activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Proven 3+ years of experience in accounting, preferably within the agriculture import/export industry or related sectors.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and tax regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Experience with ERP systems is a mandatory.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
