Job Description
Job Title: Driver
Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and experienced driver who is proficient in English to join our team in Dar es Salaam. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting clients or company personnel safely and efficiently to their destinations. This role requires excellent driving skills, a good knowledge of Dar es Salaam’s road networks, and the ability to communicate effectively in English.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safe Transportation:
- Transport clients, guests, or company personnel to designated locations safely and on time.
- Ensure the vehicle is driven in a manner that ensures the safety of passengers and other road users.
- Vehicle Maintenance:
- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Report any mechanical issues or repairs needed to the supervisor.
- Route Planning:
- Plan routes in advance to ensure timely arrivals and avoid traffic congestion.
- Be knowledgeable about the local area, including alternative routes.
- Communication:
- Communicate clearly and professionally with passengers, providing assistance and information as needed.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor at all times.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of trips, including mileage, fuel usage, and any incidents that occur.
- Ensure all necessary documentation, such as licenses and permits, are up to date and carried in the vehicle.
- Adherence to Policies:
- Follow all company policies and procedures, including those related to safety and vehicle use.
- Comply with local traffic laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience as a driver in Dar es Salaam or similar environments.
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
- Excellent knowledge of Dar es Salaam’s roads and traffic patterns.
- Good physical condition and ability to pass any required medical examinations.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle unexpected situations effectively.
- Strong customer service skills and a professional appearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a similar role for an international company or with expatriates.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position with flexible working hours, including weekends and evenings if necessary.
