Job Description

Reporting To: Sr Production and Quality Manager
Job Summary:
The Production Manager will be responsible for the efficient and safe operation of the ice cream production facility. This involves planning, coordinating, and controlling the manufacturing processes to ensure products meet quality standards, production targets are achieved, and all regulatory compliance requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Production Planning and Scheduling: Develop and execute production plans and schedules to meet customer demand and delivery deadlines.
- Operational Oversight: Oversee the entire production process, ensuring efficiency and quality at all stages from ingredient mixing to packaging and warehousing.
- Quality Control & Compliance:
- Implement and enforce rigorous quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) protocols.
- Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and food safety regulations, including HACCP, GMP, and local Tanzanian standards (e.g., TBS, OSHA).
- Resource Management: Determine and manage the necessary resources, including raw materials, workforce, and equipment, to optimize output and minimize waste.
- Team Leadership & Management: Supervise, mentor, and train production staff and supervisors, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and high performance.
- Maintenance Coordination: Organize the repair and routine preventative maintenance of production equipment in coordination with the maintenance department to minimize downtime.
- Cost Control & Budgeting: Monitor production costs, manage budgets, and implement cost-saving initiatives to enhance profitability.
- Collaboration & Reporting: Liaise with other departments such as R&D, procurement, sales, quality assurance, and logistics to align production goals with overall business objectives. Prepare and analyze production reports for senior management.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior production role within a manufacturing environment, with experience in the ice cream industry being highly advantageous.
- Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of production management, food processing techniques, quality standards, and H&S regulations. Proficiency in MS Office is essential.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in English and Kiswahili.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Compensation:
Salary is negotiable and depends heavily on experience with a maximum cap of 2.5 M.
