Project Lead (Import and Export Industry)

Designation: Project Lead.

Job Description:

As a Project Lead in the Import and Export industry, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing complex import and export projects from initiation to completion. Your role will involve coordinating various aspects of the project, including planning, execution, monitoring, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.

  1. Project Planning and Coordination:
  • Develop project plans outlining scope, objectives, timelines, resource requirements, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, including logistics, procurement, finance, and legal departments, to define project requirements and expectations.
  1. Regulatory Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with import and export regulations, customs laws, and trade policies throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies and customs authorities to obtain necessary permits, licenses, and certifications.
  1. Risk Management:
  • Identify potential risks and uncertainties associated with import/export projects and develop mitigation strategies to address them.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively identify and resolve issues to minimize disruptions and delays.
  1. Supplier and Vendor Management:
  • Select and engage with suppliers, vendors, freight forwarders, and other service providers to support project requirements.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms of service to optimize project outcomes and minimize costs.
  1. Logistics and Transportation:
  • Coordinate transportation and logistics arrangements for inbound and outbound shipments, including carrier selection, routing, and scheduling.
  • Monitor shipment status and address any issues related to freight movement, customs clearance, and delivery.
  1. Quality Assurance:
  • Establish quality standards and performance metrics for import/export projects and ensure adherence to them.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to verify compliance with quality requirements and identify areas for improvement.
  1. Communication and Reporting:
  • Communicate project status, milestones, and key updates to stakeholders through regular meetings, presentations, and reports.
  • Prepare comprehensive project documentation, including project plans, progress reports, and post-project evaluations.
  1. Continuous Improvement:
  • Analyse project performance metrics and lessons learned to identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains.
  • Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance project delivery and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or Agri- business management, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven 8+ years of experience in project management, preferably in the import/export industry.
  • Thorough understanding of import/export regulations, customs procedures, and international trade practices.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software applications.
  • PMP or other relevant certifications are a plus.

Salary :

  • The salary ranges from $1000 to $1500, contingent upon the interview performance and level of experience.
